Weldon Library Board Meeting Minutes

For March 21, 2017

 

    The meeting was called to order by President Pat Brown at 7:00 PM in the board meeting room of the Weldon Public Library.

    Secretary Bob Walters conducted the roll-call. Pat Brown, Susan Westray, Christi Baker, Amanda Walters, Alycia Brockman and Bob Walters were all present. Tracy Young was absent. Librarian Lori Weaver was also present.

    Secretary Bob Walters read the minutes of the February 21st meeting. There was a motion by Susan Westray, second by Christy Baker, to accept the minutes as read. The vote was 6 – 0.

    No one was present for the public forum item on the agenda.

    There were no closed session items for the board to care for.

    Treasurer’s Report: was presented by Treasurer Christi Baker.

The February 1, 2017, beginning balance was $21,494.44. Receipts for February were $204.87. Disbursements amounted to $3,667.85. This activity resulted in an ending balance on February 28th of $18,031.46. The February payroll and March bills were also reviewed. There was a motion by Bob Walters, second by Susan Westray, to accept the treasurer’s report as read. The vote was 6 – 0.

    Librarians report: was given by Librarian Lori Weaver.

    Pre-K this month had a St. Patrick Day theme.

    The High School Book Club has read 18 books so far. They are presently “Six Months Later”, and will next read “The Kiss of Deception” and “Phantom Limbs”.

    The Middle School Book Club has also read 18 books so far. They are presently reading “Gone”.

    Early dismissal day on Feb. 1st had 39 kids attending the library classes.

    Lori passed out copies of the bi-monthly report. Patron attendance has increased by 100 over the same period last year. Interlibrary loans by Weldon have tripled over last year.

    Lori donated several items to the Post Prom. She utilized scholastic dollars.

 

 

    OLD BUSINESS

    We are gathering bids for installation of the new generator. We will discuss further in next month’s meeting.

    Tracy Young has information on our copier replacement. We will discuss further at next month’s meeting.

    Lori has some computer issues to discuss in next month’s meeting.

    NEW BUSINESS

    The board reviewed Policies 28, 29, 30 and 31.

Policy 28 – Obtaining a Weldon Public Library Card – No change necessary.

Policy 29 – Illinois Freedom of Information Act – No change necessary.

Policy 30 – Reference Service Policy – No change necessary.

Policy 31 – Firearm Concealed Carry Act – No change necessary.

    Cloud activity for the month totaled 29,801, E-Books 22,850, others 6,951.

    ATM update – The bank wants to remove the ATM from the library and replace it with one in the bank entrance. The board must agree due to our contract.

    There were no suggested topics for next month’s meeting.

    Having no other business to conduct, there was a motion by Susan Westray, second by Amanda Walters, to adjourn. The vote was 6 – 0.

    Meeting adjourned at 7:48 PM.
