The meeting was called to order by President Pat Brown at 7:00 PM in the board meeting room in the Weldon Public Library.
The roll-call was conducted by Secretary Bob Walters. Pat Brown, Susan Westray, Christi Baker, and Bob Walters were present. Amanda Walters arrived at 7:08 PM. Alycia Brockman and Tracy Young were absent. Librarian Lori Weaver was also present.
Secretary Bob Walters read the minutes of the October 18th minutes. There was a motion by Susan Westray, second by Christi Baker, to accept the minutes as read. The vote was 5 – 0.
No one was present for the public forum portion of the agenda.
There were no closed session items for the board to consider.
Treasurer’s Report: was given by Christi Baker.
The October 1, 2016, beginning balance was $13,765.14. Receipts for the month amounted to $24,188.68. Distributions for the month totaled $5,855.87. This activity resulted in an October 31th ending balance of $32,097.95. The October payroll and November bills were also reviewed. Two CD’s will mature at the State Bank of Lincoln next week on November 21st. They will be allowed to roll over for one year at an interest rate of .25%. There was a motion by Susan Westray, second by Bob Walters, to accept the treasurer’s report as presented. The vote was 5 – 0.
Librarian’s Report: was given by Librarian Lori Weaver.
The Pre-K visit was November 10th. They enjoyed books on taking a bath. The December meeting will occur during the Book Fair. Plans are not final as yet.
Family Reading Night will be held tomorrow night, November 15th after school. They have received 55 RSVP’s for the meeting. Cookies have been ordered for refreshments.
Book Cub is doing well. They are going to try an every-other-week schedule to separate high school kids from the younger ones. They just finished reading “I am not a Serial Killer” and are presently reading “Christopher Killer”.
Early dismissal day was November 2nd. Ten adults and 36 kids attended the library program.
The Santa Clause visit will be Saturday, December 17th, from 10 AM to 12 noon.
The board will put up and decorate the library Christmas Tree at 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 3rd. The board will have their annual Christmas employee dinner on Monday, December 19th.
The annual Book Fair at the school will be held from December 5th thru 9th. Lori has all materials ready and the help lined up.
Lori passed out the bi-annual report for the Sept/Oct time period. The interlibrary loan figure for loaned items really stood out. It was almost 400% larger than the same period last year.
E-book activity was 31,302 volumes in October.
The Halloween Party at the library on October 31st was attended by 33 adults and 65 kids.
The Comptrollers Report has been completed and is ready for President Pat Brown. Pat signed the report.
All people running for reelection should have their petition signatures and turn the petitions in to Lori. Christi Baker has not turned hers in yet.
The board reviewed their policy on Compliance with Investments. We are compliant.
The board reviewed Policies 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17.
Policy 13 – Disposal of Surplus Library Material – No change was necessary.
Policy 14 – Emergency Procedures – No changes necessary.
Policy 15 – Prevailing Wage Act – No change necessary.
Policy 16 – Accidents/First Aid/ Unsafe Working Conditions & Accident or Injury Report – No change necessary.
Policy 17 – Investment of Public Funds Policy – No change necessary.
The library will sponsor a kids New Year’s Party at noon on Saturday, December 31st, from 11 AM to 12 noon.
Having no other business to conduct, there was a motion by Susan Westray, second by Amanda Walters, to adjourn. The vote was 5 – 0. Meeting adjourned at 7:49 PM.
